Stories of growth, hope & harvest

Planting hope, harvesting futures, in the hills of Uganda

Farming to feed communities, teach agri-education & sustainability.

Farming that feeds a whole community

Green Hills is led by Thomas Turahe: farmer, storyteller and changemaker. What grows here goes to the people who live here first.

The maize "disease" that became a harvest

When fungus hit our maize, we learned it is huitlacoche, a delicacy in Mexico. Now it helps pay the farm's running costs.

What the farm makes possible

One piece of land, four jobs. Each one supports the next.

Teaching the youth to farm

Hands-on agri-education that shows farming is a skill and a livelihood worth choosing.

Feeding the community every week

Matooke, maize and red bananas from our fields go straight to community meals.

Building a community home

A safe, weatherproof house for the orphans and vulnerable children we care for.

Questions, answered

The things supporters ask us most.

Where does my donation go?

Straight into the community: empowers local farmers with seedlings, farm equipments & pesticides. Feeds the orphans and vulnerable children, pays school fees for OVCs, provides medical support for community members.

How does the farm pay for itself day to day?

The farm grows cabbages, beans, cassava, coffee and matooke we sell to the nearby markets. We also receive gifts from kind people like you.

What is huitlacoche?

A fungus that grows on maize. Most farmers treat it as a disease. In Mexico it is a prized food, so we turned an attack on our crop into an blessings.
